Strengthen the Backbone of Embedded Product Development in the Automotive Sector

An industry-leading automotive company is currently expanding its capabilities to streamline and professionalise support for embedded software and system descriptions within its proprietary Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

To help realise this vision, we are seeking an experienced Embedded System Developer to take the lead in establishing and managing a first-line support function focused on embedded systems and software descriptions. This role is crucial to ensuring structured, high-quality assistance for engineers and developers working across the embedded development landscape.

About the Role

In this position, you will bridge the gap between embedded system development and product data governance. Drawing from your own experience in embedded software or hardware development, you will help internal users navigate and troubleshoot the process of entering system and software product descriptions into a PDM or PLM system.

You will not only support users in resolving issues and following proper workflows, but also set up a structured support function, implement tools for ticket tracking, and ensure follow-up and resolution of recurring problems. Your insights into the practical realities of embedded development will be vital in shaping a support service that genuinely meets the needs of engineers.

The assignment is based in Södertälje and involves a flexible hybrid setup. While there is scope for remote work, you must be prepared to be on site 3–5 days per week, depending on project needs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage a support function for embedded system and software product description within the proprietary PDM/PLM environment
  • Act as a super user and first line of support for teams needing assistance with embedded product documentation workflows
  • Set up and manage a ticket system to track, follow up, and resolve user-reported issues and support requests
  • Provide hands-on guidance and mentoring to engineers and developers entering data into the PDM/PLM system
  • Ensure structured and consistent processes for resolving workflow issues and system-related challenges
  • Collaborate with technical and process teams to improve system usability and documentation best practices
  • Contribute to a long-term vision of a “one-stop shop” support service for embedded product data management

What We Are Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • A background in embedded software or hardware development, ideally within the automotive sector
  • Proven ability to understand the day-to-day needs and pain points of embedded engineers
  • Strong understanding of Product Data Management (PDM) and/or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating similar qualifications
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and embedded components in vehicles
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken (Swedish is beneficial)
  • Experience working in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environments
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities or experience in roles requiring team guidance and support

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a technical writer, IT business analyst, or similar role with prior embedded system development background
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills to guide peers through complex system workflows

What You Can Expect

  • An opportunity to shape and lead a support initiative critical to improving embedded systems data management
  • Close collaboration with engineers and developers, backed by an agile, innovation-driven culture
  • A varied and hands-on role that combines technical depth with process development
  • On-site engagement in Södertälje, with flexible hybrid arrangements depending on project priorities
  • A long-term assignment with potential for further growth as the support function evolves
